Check dam line of starters in 3-y-o Sunday call
KINGSTON, Jamaica – There is much anticipation as another three-year-old maiden contest is unveiled on Sunday (Feb 13, 2022), and is listed as the second of nine on the day.
The anticipation surrounds the start of two untried horses, who have both signalled their intent and potential at exercise in the mornings. But as they say, races are run in the afternoons and not at morning exercise.
THE QUICK GALLOPER gives his analysis on the eight starters scheduled to face the starter in this five-furlong round call, in their post-position order.
1 – SIR TAJAY is a bay colt by TRADITIONAL – LASTOSHKA, who has failed to impress in his five career starts and will not be a factor. SPECIAL NOTE: LASTOSHKA is also the dam of Miss Francis.
2 – YOU AND I is a bay filly by HERE COMES BEN – APPASSIONATA, racing for the first occasion, with this race, one of experience. SPECIAL NOTE: APPASSIONATA is also the dam of Xhosa and In The Blood.
3 – GOLIATH THE GREAT is a grey colt by MIDNIGHT HAWK – LUMINOUS TRIESTE, who is making his debut. Clockers have identified this colt as one of the better ones around based on exercise spins. Goliath The Great has worked in the mornings with Will The Conquerer, with the notification that he has speed and has developed well.
4 – LACRIMAE is a grey filly by SAVOY STOMP – PLEASANT ENDING, who is making her racing debut. Morning pundits describe Lacrimae as a lovely filly who has caught the eye at exercise. She is expected to run well on Sunday and be a live threat against all and sundry. SPECIAL NOTE: PLEASANT ENDING is also the dam of Cryptocurrency and Sensational Ending.
5 – FUNOMETER is a dark bay colt by TRADITIONAL – OPULENT. He has raced twice before without anything to show for his efforts. That trend continues on Sunday. SPECIAL NOTE: OPULENT is also the dam of Yet Again, and Hoist The Mast.
6 – MAGGIE’S BOY is a bay colt by BUZZ NIGHTMARE – MAGGIE’S WAY. He started his career early in the season (August 3, 2021) and has hit the track twice since then finishing fifth on January 22. Will have to improve significantly to win this one even with the figure eight on, and with first time Lasix administered.
7 – GET A PEPSI is a chestnut colt by BLUE PEPSI LODGE – GUTUPSTANDUP. Get A Pepsi is a newcomer who has been making strides at exercise but is not ready as yet.
8 – BUGATTI is a bay colt by CASUAL TRICK – CHARMIN DIAZ. Bugatti returned to competitive racing seven days ago after a long break. On his return, Bugatti raced prominently finishing sixth. Bugatti will improve his placing status. CHARMIN DIAZ is also the dam of Executive Charm, Parajet, and Casual Charm.
