KINGSTON, Jamaica – Nine four-year-olds face off in the ninth race on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Caymanas Park.
This event is for four-year-olds and upwards non-winners of four for locally bred horses, and a non-three for foreign bred horses. The distance is 7 ½ furlongs.
The Quick Galloper’s review of this event is given below.
1 – GET A PEPSI enters this one with a renewal of form in recent times, this chestnut colt is seeking his third win in succession. The distance is to his liking, but he enters non-four for the first time against some seasoned campaigner. This, however, should not be an impediment for Get A Pepsi, especially given his recent performances.
2 – BABYLIKE is getting accustomed to the pace of non-winners of four. She gave a good run on last (6 ½ furlongs) when finishing second behind the battle-worn Tekapunt. The distance on Saturday of 7 ½ furlongs is perfect for Babylike, and as such is given the edge in this one.
3 – SHADOWFAX reached the landmark of three wins seven days ago and is quickly taking on non-winners of four. Will need more time.
4 – FLY MESSENGER FLY is a participant in every available, having raced 40 times in her career. She is a regular earner for her connections and again should do so.
5 – RAINSVILLE after four starts in non-three, this grey colt is poised to deliver. He has the form, plus the trip of 7 ½ furlongs will not prove to be a hindrance. The choice of jockey (Jawara Steadman), does not inspire confidence.
6 – KP CHOICE is getting there slowly but surely. Still has to wait for possibly a shorter trip.
7 – WHISKY is getting to know what is required to win at this level.
8 – NEFERTARI is difficult to follow given her unruly behaviour. When last at the track, Nefertari took no part while under orders. If Nefertari pleases to go into the gates and exit in good order, she will be coming at them inside the lane.
9 – MARCH AND SHOOT takes on non-four for the first time. Will have to wait.
