KINGSTON, Jamaica – Giving Thanks announced herself in no uncertain terms at the start of her three-year-old campaign, dismantling five rivals in a maiden special weight for fillies over six furlongs on Saturday, January 17, 2026.
The bay daughter of Bern Identity out of Lighting Lilly was making only her second career appearance, having debuted in December 2025 as a juvenile. On that occasion she finished second, 2 ¼ lengths adrift of Taylor Made at five furlongs round, despite a troubled beginning. Partnered then, as now, by Tevin Foster, Giving Thanks veered sharply right leaving the gates, forfeiting valuable ground before regaining composure. Foster steadied her, and she closed strongly to secure the runner-up spot.
This time, again under the guidance of trainer Philip Feanny, the filly broke more cleanly with Foster aboard. Lexi Lou (Dane Dawkins) dictated the early fractions, with Giving Thanks tracking neatly along the inside rails in second.
Approaching the bend, Another Wow (Reyan Lewis) surged forward to seize the lead, closely attended by Lexi Lou and Another Quality (Raddesh Roman). At that juncture, Giving Thanks was shuffled back to fourth, but Foster remained patient, conserving her energy.
With two and a half furlongs remaining, Foster angled Giving Thanks wide, unleashing her powerful stride into the straight. From there, she swept past her rivals with ease, stretching clear to score by an imposing 12 lengths. The clock stopped at 1:15.2, with sectional splits of 24.0, 48.3, and 1:01.3.
Another Wow crossed the line second, just ahead of Lexi Lou. However, following a stewards’ inquiry, Another Wow was demoted to fourth, elevating Lexi Lou into the runner-up position.
