Galloping with Matuso in Sunday’s (Nov 19) juvenile event

TWO YEAR OLDS

KINGSTON, Jamaica – The seventh race of ten on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at Caymanas Park, remember the contribution of the late Abbie Grannum to the local racing product.

This event is for two-year-old maidens at seven furlongs, the longest trip for the juveniles this season.

The Quick Galloper preview of the race is published below.

1 - ALLEGIANCE is a two-year-old chestnut colt (February 26) by Midnight Hawk out of Princess Geeta, trained by Anthony Nunes with Tevin Foster aboard. Note, that Princess Geeta has already produced Mamma Mia (Soul Warrior), Fayrouz (Blue Pepsi Lodge), Will At War (Traditional), and Nefertari (Savoy Stomp). Comes from Classic winning stock and is certainly one to take note of. Allegiance has been steadily prepared for his debut run, clocking a time of 1:01.4 for five furlongs. Starting his career at seven furlongs might prove difficult.

2 - BLUE SENSATION is a bay filly (February 12) by Sensational Slam out of Blues In The Grass, trained by Peter John Parsard with Oneil Mullings in the saddle. Note, Blues In The Grass has already produced Big Jule. Blu Sensation is the most experienced of the lot with three starts to her credit. She has yet to demonstrate anything to suggest that a winning effort is a possibility on Sunday.

3 - AMMA is a two-year-old bay filly (February 3) by Bern Identity out of Blufield, trained by Ian Parsard with Reyan Lewis aboard. Note, Blufield has already produced Blue Vinyl (Bern Notice), Bern Identity (Bern Notice), Princess Lizzy (Artreides), and Power From Above (Key To Power). Morning observers are reporting that this well-bred filly is a good looker while making steady progress. Among her prep spins in a six-furlong clocking of 1:17.0. The learning process begins for this filly.

4 - TEE OFF is a two-year-old chestnut filly (March 2) by Sensational Slam out of Indian Bluff, trained by Ian Parsard with Robert Halledeen in the saddle. Note, that Indian Bluff has already produced Brinks (Bern Identity), Here Comes Doc (Bern Identity), and Hall of Justice (Can The Man). Another well-bred debutante, who has caught the eyes at morning exercise. Expect to run well without winning.

5 – BUTTERCUP is a bay filly (February 2) by Conquest Cherimash out of Shahar, trained by Richard Azan with Oneil Scott holding the reins. Note Shahar has already produced Little Thunder (Traditional), Sheer Madness (Traditional), Puddy Pooh (Adore The Gold), Awesome Sauce (Blue Pepsi Lodge), Sir Puddington (Western Classic), Gypsy Jam (Adore The Gold), Thirtyonekisses (Savoy Stomp). From her two starts to date, Buttercup has yet to show anything of worth.

6 – MATUSO is a bay colt (April 7) by Casual Trick out of Puddy Pooh, trained by Richard Azan with Dane Dawkins aboard. Made his debut just eight days ago finishing third (six lengths) running on, behind Fastandfuriouslinks and Rosetts at six furlongs. With that pipe opener, Matuso is the choice to win this cup event.
