KINGSTON, Jamaica – With no trophy race listed on the six-race card of Saturday, July 22, 2023, the Overnight Allowance event going down the five straight course in the major race on offer.
The Quick Galloper provides below the analysis of the 13 horses entered in this Overnight call.
Please note that the number of horses may change when the Final Program is provided tomorrow (Wed, July 19, 2023).
This analysis is done in post-position order.
1 – POWER RANKING: This four-year-old bay colt put in another smashing effort 13 days ago when losing by less than a length at six and a half furlongs. He is in pink condition, with the only obstacle being drawn at one in a straight five. Will nevertheless put in a good effort, and is going to be close at the finish.
2 – TAURUS BOY: This foreigner is still trying to find his hoofs in Overnight Allowance. Cannot be considered a major player on Saturday.
3 – PRINCE MARSHALL: Slowly coming to grips with this grouping. The Fitzroy Glispie trainee still has a lot to do before he can succeed at this level. Note, Prince Marshall races with the figure eight on.
4 – CURLIN’S AFFAIR: Has been dismal in recent times. Nothing better is expected.
5 – RING CHARMER: This five-year-old bay mare is finding it difficult to deal with Overnight Allowance. Needs more time. Note, Ring Charmer races with the tongue tie on.
6 – LUKSOL: Has been a major disappointment in Overnight. Will have to find a lot more to win this one.
7 – SPARKLE DIAMOND: Problematic sort, who loves the straight. At best a place on the board is Sparkle Diamond’s best option.
8 – EL PROFESOR: Difficult to access, El Profesor is trying to pick up the pieces late in his career. This is a difficult task for the old-timer.
9 – SECRET TRAVELLER: Steps up from a victory in top claiming 21 days ago. Cannot manage these at this time.
10 – FREEDOM STREET: Has been consistent in Overnight Allowance. Freedom Street is favourably drawn on the outside, he has speed and will use this speed with good effect. Will finish in the top four.
11 – JJ THE STRIKER: A new entrant in Overnight Allowance, yet to catch the pace. Time is required for JJ The Striker.
12 – LURE OF LUCY: The true form horse at present in this grade. Lure of Lucy has everything going her way in this one. She is drawn on the outside, the hot jockey is on board, plus she has shown a liking for the course. Lure of Lucy is given the perfect opportunity of making it career win number seven.
13 – SNOWFLAKES: This five-year-old has gone through her conditions and has now made it to Overnight Allowance. Snowflakes will be found wanting.
