Heavenly Glitter seals the deal for jockey and trainer
KINGSTON, Jamaica – A well-judged race allied with a strong flourish in the straight allowed jockey Dane Dawkins on the Gary Subratie trained Heavenly Glitter to finish the Saturday race day of February 5, with four winners. For Subratie it was his third.
With those four winners, Dawkins shoots ahead in the jockeys’ race with 14 winners, four ahead of Tevin Foster and five more than Robert Halledeen.
Dawkins started the race day, one in front of Halledeen and two ahead of Foster. Halledeen went winless while Foster brought home a double.
Dawkins’ winners were Acero for trainer Dennis Pryce; Pharoah It Is, Olde Wharf, and Heavenly Glitter for Subratie.
With those three winners, Subratie substantially increased his lead in the trainers’ championship in terms of both stakes earned and the number of wins. Subratie has saddled 12 winners, with Jason DaCosta in second place with five wins.
