Four for Dick Cardenas as Smokey Topaz shines in Caymanas Saturday fifth

KINGSTON, Jamaica – There seems to be no stopping jockey Dick Cardenas. The Panamanian won for the fourth time riding in five races when he partnered the Andrew McDonald trained Smokey Topaz to victory in the Caymanas Saturday fifth.

Smokey Topaz, racing for the 71st time in his career, won a three-year-old and upwards Optional Claiming ($350,000 - $300,000) offering coming down the five-straight course. Smokey Topaz won at odds of 7-2.

Racing in mid-track throughout Cardenas made his move on Smokey Topaz when the horses came onto the main track, soaring by a faltering leader Dee Danger (Anthony Thomas), and thereafter it was smooth sailing to the winning post.

Blu Attitude (Dane Dawkins) also at odds of 7-2 finished second with the third slot taken by 6-1 chance St Michael (Robert Halledeen).
