KINGSTON, Jamaica - The eighth event of ten on Saturday, December 21, 2024, features a maiden race for two-year-olds traveling six furlongs.
All seven participants are foreign-bred horses, with two foaled in Canada and the remaining five in the United States.
The Quick Galloper’s assessment of the potential outcome is as follows:
1 - FLAG OF VICTORY - A chestnut filly (CAN, foaled March 22) by Point of Entry out of Run The Flag, trained by Winchester McIntosh with apprentice Demar Williams in the saddle. This Canadian-bred has not shown any promise in her three prior starts, and this trend is expected to continue.
2 - ALMASTY LIST - A dark brown filly (CAN, foaled May 28) by Almasty out of My List, trained by Lorenzo Robinson with apprentice Jermaine Lewis riding. She finished seventh, 19 lengths behind the winner on her debut (December 7), and appears unready at this time.
3 - QUANTUM STAR - A bay filly (USA, foaled March 15) by Hoppertunity out of Countless Clare, trained by Robert Pearson with Dick Cardenas aboard. Note that Quantum Star races with the blinkers. Was not able to display much on debut. Has to be discarded.
4 - GIRVANO - A bay colt (USA, foaled April 5) by Girvin out of Summer In Midway, trained by Jason DaCosta with Tevin Foster in the saddle. This newcomer has shown promise during exercises, clocking a notable 59.3 seconds in a gallop on December 14, demonstrating his readiness.
5 - SUPERNATURAL POWER - A grey filly (USA, foaled April 10) by Cross Traffic out of Urquia, trained by Philip Feanny with Raddesh Roman listed as the jockey. Racing for the first time, she has shown above-average performance in morning exercises, recording a time of 1:07.0 for 5 ½ furlongs on December 15, suggesting a strong chance for success in her debut.
6 - FEARLESS MISSION - A chestnut filly (USA, foaled April 10) by Uncle Vinnie out of Duff One, trained by Oral Hayden with Robert Halledeen riding. She will race with first-time Lasix. After finishing second, 6 ½ lengths behind the runaway winner, Rideallday, Fearless Mission has enough potential to suggest that a win is a real possibility with the addition of Lasix.
7 - NEPHEW - A bay colt (USA, foaled March 7) by Uncle Vinny out of Boca Bloom, trained by Owen Sharpe with Trevor Simpson in the irons. After a lacklustre debut performance on December 7, he does not appear likely to improve sufficiently to contend with the leading competitors.
