1-9 favourite Luksol finishes second
KINGSTON, Jamaica – US-bred Talona turned the tables on 1-9 favourite Luksol to register her first career victory in the Caymanas Saturday (Feb 5) second.
That first win by Talona was achieved in a three-year-old (non-winners of two) contest for local horses and a maiden for foreigners travelling five furlongs round.
After finishing way behind Luksol in her debut run on January 15, Talona (Bayern – To My Delight) returned with a show of speed after going to the front when exiting her starting stall.
Talona, with Youville Pinnock in the saddle for trainer Philip Feanny, was followed first by Valhalla (Tevin Foster), and then by Luksol (Anthony Thomas) when they got closer to making the turn for home.
In the lane, Luksol challenged consistently but the winning post intervened with Talona getting home by half-a-length. Luksol was second and Valhalla third.
