FOREIGNER RUNAWAY ALGO IMPRESSES IN EASTER SPRINT CUP VICTORY

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Racing in Overnight Allowance for the first time, and the youngest horse in the field of 14, foreigner Runaway Algo closed the three-day Easter Racing Carnival with a breath-taking victory in the Easter Spring Cup.
The Easter Spring Cup, was a three-year-old and upwards Overnight Allowance call going 5 ½ furlongs.
Jockey Christopher Mamdeen got Runaway Algo trained by Dale Murphy off to a flying start with the 1-5 favourite Mahogany, after an indifferent break, moving down to come alongside. The two then turned this trophy event into a straight duel from then on.
In the straight, Runaway Algo held a slight advantage over Mahogany, with no one giving an inch. Then in the last half-a-furlong, Runaway Algo started to pull away winning by 1 ¼ lengths. Mahogany was second and I Am Fred (Phillip Parchment) third.
Runaway Algo clocked a fast 1:05.2 with splits of 22.4 x 45.3. He was the second winner on the day for Murphy.
For Runaway Algo it was his fourth win from five starts.
