KINGSTON, Jamaica – US bred two-year-old chestnut colt Runaway Algo (Algorithms – Misunify), racing for the second time notched his first win in impressive fashion in the Caymanas Boxing Day third.
The Caymanas Boxing Day third was a maiden special weight contest for imported and local bred juveniles going 5 ½ furlongs.
With Shane Ellis in the saddle for trainer Dale Murphy, Runaway Algo went to the lead when the gates opened followed by another foreigner Luksol (Anthony Thomas), with the rest of the field of 12 runners playing catch up.
In the straight Luksol tried to challenge but Runaway Algo was too strong. Runaway Algo increased his tempo to win by 5 lengths in a smart time of 1:06.2. Luksol was second and first time runner Pip (Robert Halledeen) third.
