KINGSTON, Jamaica – After three previous starts, US bred foreigner Awesome Treasure earned her first win on Jamaican soil moments ago in the fifth race on the Saturday (Oct 10) programme at Caymanas Park.
The Gary Subratie trainee came good in Restricted Allowance 11 for three-year-olds non-winners of two and maiden foreigners travelling a mile.
Apprentice Raddesh Roman, who had the job of riding Awesome Treasure for the first time kept the bay filly behind a trio of horses who were vying for the lead.
Dodge This Link (Dane Dawkins) and Akeem The Dream emerged as the likely candidates to win approaching the turn for home as Roman asked Awesome Treasure for a final effort while going four-wide around the home bend.
Awesome Treasure quickly found her footing and started to pull away from a fighting Dodge This Link, who finished second.
Third coming from way behind was Royal Approach (Oshane Nugent).
