KINGSTON, Jamaica – Four newcomers led by the good looking bay colt Rum With Me (Casual Trick – Zapata) dismissed more experienced rivals to dominate the Stewards’ Cup, a five furlongs round event for two-year-olds.
This was the third race of nine on today’s card, as Rum With Me displaying noticeable talent, shot to the lead with jockey Dane Dawkins with Powerman, Mahogany and Ajita trying to keep up with the leader.
Sticking to the middle of the track in the straight, Rum With Me (2-1) shook off all-comers to power away to win by 2 ½ lengths.
Second was Glock (Oneil Mullings – 8/5) who suffered from a terrible start with third going to Mahogany (Shane Ellis – 4/5) to complete a one-two-three for the first time runners.
Rum With Me won in a fast time for a first-timer of 1:00.3.
