APPEAL – JOCKEY DANE DAWKINS vs. STEWARDS’ DECISION
On Thursday 3rd November, 2022, the Jamaica Racing Commission heard an appeal submitted by Jockey Dane Dawkins against the decision of the Stewards handed down on Tuesday 2nd August, 2021, to have him suspended for a period of two (2) race days along with a fine in the amount of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00). This was in relation to the interference and intimidation caused to Horse No. 7 MAGIC BULLET, during the running of the fifth race (5th), whilst aboard his mount Horse No. 6 JAXON leaving the 150-meter point of the race.
After carefully reviewing the film of the race and submissions made by
Mr. Shane Ellis, representative of Jockey Dane Dawkins, and the Jamaica Racing Commission’s Operations Steward, the Commission saw it just and fair to maintain the fine imposed by the Stewards however, reduced the suspension period to one (1) race day. Jockey Dawkins’ suspension will commence on November 20, 2022.
