KINGSTON, Jamaica – April Spirit recorded her second win from as many as 53 starts in the Caymanas Wednesday third.
That event was for horses spanning the categories of Claiming ($180,000 - $150,000) and six-year-old and upwards (non-winners of two) travelling 5 ½ furlongs.
Jordan Barrett atop April Spirt raced in second place as Pinders Valley (Dane Dawkins) shot to the lead from the one draw when the gates were opened.
In the stretch run, Pinders Valley quickly gave way to April Spirit who then pulled away to score by 2 ¾ lengths over The Nextbigting with Powerful Red completing the trifecta.
April Spirit is trained by Wayne Parchment, who was saddling his sixth winner in 2021.
