After a journey that began with promise, Lucy In The Sky has finally broken her winless streak, clinching victory on Saturday, February 8, 2025.
The four-year-old, trained by Jason DaCosta, previously tasted victory at the tender age of two, winning on August 26, 2023. However, her subsequent efforts during her three-year-old season yielded no wins, leaving fans eager for her return to form.
In this latest outing, Lucy In The Sky competed in a challenging field of native-bred horses aged four and up (non-winners of two) alongside imported maidens. The race took place over a mile, and with Robert Halledeen aboard, Lucy In The Sky strategically positioned herself just behind front-runners Pineapple (ridden by Demar Williams) and Midnight Galaxy (Tajay Suckoo).
As the race approached the pivotal half-mile mark, Lucy In The Sky began her advance, steadily gaining ground on the leaders. With a strong final push, Lucy In The Sky, crossed the line 3 ¾ lengths ahead of the pack.
The race concluded with The General (Dane Dawkins) and Pineapple securing the second and third positions, respectively. Lucy In The Sky clocked a commendable time of 1:42.0, with splits of 24.0, 46.4, 1:13.3, and 1:27.4.
With this triumphant win, Lucy In The Sky now has a career tally of two victories from 25 starts, amassing earnings exceeding $2 million.
