Little Buzz - Dane Nelson
Little Buzz - Dane Nelson

Six horses claimed on the day

IT’S ALL I GOES ONE BETTER

It’s All I, after a close second-place finish over the straight on January 29, 2022, made no mistake this time on the round course at five furlongs (1,000m) when leading home rivals in a three-year-old and upwards Optional Claiming ($400,000-$300,000) event.

It’s All I was unable to go with the early pacesetters as Romario Spencer held the Paul Charlton-owned and trained six-year-old chestnut gelding among the backmarkers. Broken Light (Daniel Thompson) led the small field going into the half-mile turn ahead of Chrisanli (Robert Halledeen) and Awesome Glitter (Ruja Lahoe).

Approaching the distance, It’s All I made his run at the leaders from third place as Broken Light brought the field into the lane. Spencer got his mount to change through gears in the middle of the racetrack and It’s All I went on to win by four lengths.

Broken Light held on for second place with Denbigh Life (Dane Nelson) finishing third.  The final time was recorded at 1:02.4.

TRAINER WINCHESTER MCINTOSH IS OFF THE MARK

Trainer Winchester McIntosh earned his first win for the season when his charge Little Buzz made all the running to win a native-bred five-year-old and upwards maiden condition contest at six furlongs (1,200m).

The bustling Dane Nelson broke Little Buzz on top at the off and held the lead ahead of Crushing Power (Omar Simpson), Savitar (Aaron Chatrie), and Dr Sahir Alexander (Natalie Berger).

As Little Buzz made her way around the half-mile, the seven-year-old bay mare upped the tempo on rivals giving them little chance of catching her in the straight.

Once Little Buzz came into the straight, the race was done as the mare went on to win by six lengths.

Suzie Grey (Dane Dawkins) finished third and Shashamani Dance (Javaniel Patterson) third. The winning time was 1:20.3.
