FABULOSITY IN EASY ROMP
Six-year-old bay mare Fabulosity easily defeated rivals in a three-year-old and upwards Optional Claiming ($400,000-$300,000) spread over five furlongs (1,000m) on the round course.
With Roger Hewitt riding for trainer Junior Small, Fabulosity vied for the early lead along with Pakman (Tevin Foster) and Broken Light, the mount of Phillip Parchment. Leaving the three-furlong (600m) point, Fabulosity took full control and began to open up on both Pakman and Broken Light approaching the distance.
Turning and scraping paint on the inside rails, Fabulosity (Adore The Gold – Fantabulous) kicked clear in the lane and went on to win by 3 ¼ lengths in a time of 1:03.2. Gentle Giant (Oshane Nugent) came on the scene late to get second place with Pakman finishing third.
PARTY PRINCESS A WINNER WITH THE VISOR OFF
Running with the visor off, the Anthony Subratie-conditioned Party Princess registered her first win in more than a year in an Optional Claiming ($180,000-$150,000) call for five-year-old and upwards horses over 5 ½ furlongs (1,100m).
Jockey Devon A Thomas quickly settled Party Princess in third position going into the half-mile behind tearaway leader Seadon (Matthew Bennett) followed by Flying Bullet (Anthony Thomas).
Seadon turned for home with a sizeable lead ahead of Flying Bullet but Thomas positioned his mount on the outside of runners and Party Princess responded by powering her way to a 6 ¾ length victory. Seadon held on for second with Flying Bullet third. The final time recorded was 1:12.3. It was the first win of the season for Thomas.
FRESH CASH COMES GOOD DOWN THE STRAIGHT
After five outings this season, Fresh Cash, trained by Robert Pearson and ridden by Javaniel Patterson, came good with a winning run in a three-year-old and upwards Optional Claiming ($250,000-$200,000) contest.
Travelling down the straight at 5 furlongs from the dreaded one draw, Fresh Cash showed early speed and was up with the pacesetting group of Awesome Glitter (Ruja Lahoe), Blue Attitude (Jordan Barrett), Nuclear Thunder (Calvin Bailey) and Money Marshall (Matthew Bennett).
As the runners sorted themselves out passing the dummy rails, Fresh Cash emerged as the leader ahead of Sir Frederick (Shavon Townsend), Willodeen (Sadiki Blake), Blue Attitude and Awesome Glitter.
Fresh Cash won by 7 lengths ahead of Sir Frederick and Blue Attitude in a final time of 1:03.0.
LONGIE LALA FINALLY GETS HOME
Longie Lala, after a close finish behind Nyla The Dancer over 6-1/2 furlongs (1,300m), went one better in a native-bred four-year-old and upwards maiden condition race at 6 furlongs (1,200m).
Trained by Patrick Lynch and ridden by Dane Dawkins, Longie Lala broke well behind stablemate Jungle Cat (Oshane Nugent), who set off at a merry clip, going into the half-mile turn. Longie Lala then joined Jungle Cat on the lead approaching the distance before taking over after turning for home.
A battle for supremacy developed in deep stretch as Conundrum (Anthony Thomas) came on the inside rails for his challenge. Dawkins kept his mount well balanced and Longie Lala edged away for the win by 1 1/4 lengths ahead of Conundrum. Silver Soul (Shane Richardson) finished third. The final time was at 1:19.2.
