Wins Chris Armond in 1:05.4 with Oshane Nugent
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Father Patrick enshrined himself as the top sprinter in the land with a pulsating victory in the 5 ½ furlong Chris Armond Sprint with jockey Oshane Nugent in the saddle.
The Chris Armond Sprint was for horses (three-year-old and upwards) in the category of Open Allowance | Graded Stakes.
The race was deprived of the participation of one of the top three-year-old as Billy Whizz railed in the gates and was declared a late non-starter by the veterinary on duty.
Trained by Ian Parsard, Father Patrick from the barriers opened was a part of the leading bunch, as the speedy Victory Turn (Raddesh Roman) led the pack with God of Love (Chris Mamdeen) and Nuclear Noon (Robert Halledeen) close by.
In the straight for the last two furlongs, Nugent got Father Patrick to accelerate and he quickly assumed control but both jockey and horse had to dig deep as God of Love kept coming on the inside rails. When the winning post arrived Father Patrick was three-parts of a length in front of God of Love with Laban (Abigail Able) third.
The winning time was 1:05.4.
