KINGSTON, Jamaica - The Prince Consort Stakes, a key seven-furlong event for three-year-old colts and geldings, has recently concluded, shedding light on the participants' performance levels.

Here's the race analysis, listed by the final standings.

FIRST - INTRESTNTIMESAHEAD

The standout two-year-old from 2023, Intrestntimesahead, took to the track for his first race of 2024. Many were eager to see if he could build on his impressive win at the Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes last December.

Reports from morning workouts indicated Intrestntimesahead was in peak condition. Despite an early setback exiting from barrier five, jockey Tevin Foster was able to recover from near the back of the pack. With a strategic move around the turn, Foster positioned Intrestntimesahead for the win, ultimately easing up in the final stretch.

This victory, with Intrestntimesahead giving weight to all rivals in his seasonal debut, solidifies his position as the leading three-year-old. It marks his third win, mirroring the achievements of stablemate Banadura.

Kudos go to trainer Jason DaCosta, owner Elizabeth DaCosta, and listed groom George Pennant for Intrestntimesahead's performance, making him the top choice for the upcoming The Kingston.

SECOND - CROWN CHASER

Crown Chaser's team can look ahead with optimism, despite falling short at the Prince Consort. Returning from a break and racing for a second time, he found his rhythm late but suggested that longer distances might suit him better. Crown Chaser remains one to keep an eye on for the upcoming Classic races.

THIRD - J SPIETH

J Spieth was a frontrunner throughout the race but faltered in the final phase by veering off-course, overtaken by Crown Chaser. His track record indicates potential at middle distances, yet with room for growth, he remains a viable competitor.

FOURTH - CAPTAIN SPARROW

Starting off at the rear, Captain Sparrow made headway in the straight to claim fourth. His second race within a week, Captain Sparrow should benefit from the experience and may prove competitive in the Classics, where the extended distances could play to his strengths.

FIFTH - MATUSO

Matuso entered with high hopes but failed to deliver and will need to regroup before the next challenge.

SIXTH - UNRULY DON

Racing just days prior to the Prince Consort, Unruly Don couldn't match the more seasoned horses. His early efforts, however, suggest potential for future races.

SEVENTH - MIDNIGHT GALAXY

Midnight Galaxy kept up with the leaders initially but lost ground in the latter stages. He is expected to compete well up to he non-winners of three category.

EIGHTH - TEFLON DON

Teflon Don showcased his quick pace early on but couldn't sustain it. He appears to be more suited to shorter sprint races.

NINTH - ALLEGIANCE

Allegiance, who was anticipated to perform better, ended up disappointing.
