KINGSTON, Jamaica – The ninth race on Saturday, April 29, 2023, is a contest for three-year-olds non-winners of two in which 12 horses are entered travelling six furlongs.

The Quick Galloper assesses the chances of the 12 entrants, which is done in post-position order.

– BURLAP is a bay colt (March 18) by Casual Trick out of Fedora trained by Richard Azan with Anthony Thomas aboard. Note, Burlap races with the visor off. Has not progressed sufficiently since winning on debut. Burlap can be expected to deliver a good effort, especially with the visor taken off. A place on the board is Burlap’s best hope.

– RIDGE LINER is a bay colt (May 27) by Dreamliner out of Ma Grande trained by Dale Murphy with Shavon Townsend aboard. The learning progress continues for this colt.

– PIGGLIE WIGGLIE is a bay filly (April 2) by Conquest Cherimash out of Save More trained by Patrick Fong with Natalie Berger aboard. Cannot handle these.

– BIG GUY IN THESKY is a bay colt (March 12) by Natural Selection out of Granville Greta trained by Gary Subratie with Omar Walker aboard. Note, Big Guy In THESKY races with the visor on. Has failed to live up to expectations after promising so much at the start of his career. Let’s see how he runs now that his trainer has put on the visor.

– ELECTRODE is a chestnut colt (April 20) by Sunshine N Shadow out of Electrifying trained by Anthony Nunes with Tevin Foster aboard. This colt caught the eyes of all onlookers when he made his long-awaited debut 21 days ago. Electrode appears to be a good one in the making, with this run a possible decider on whether Electrode goes forward to the Classic races.

– VOLATILITY is a bay filly (March 10) by Hedge Fund out of Fashionista trained by Anthony Nunes with Youville Pinnock aboard. Note, Volatility races with the figure 8 off. A top four placing is the best offering for this filly.

– ABILITY is a bay colt (April 23) by Lion Tamer out of Disability Charm trained by Patrick Lynch with Javaniel Patterson aboard. Note, Ability races with first-time Lasix. It is one from one for Ability. He has been making progress in the mornings with railbirds saying he will run well again.

– WHIZZ KIDD is a bay colt (April 19) by Northern Giant out of Makeyn Joy trained by Jason DaCosta with Reyan Lewis aboard. A consistent and developing sort, who has an outsider’s chance of success.

– SPEEDIE HARE is a bay filly (April 1) by Conquest Cherimash out of Honeymoon Bay trained by Christopher Pearson with Jerome Innis aboard. Cannot hope for much.

– KISSMET is a bay filly (March 30) by Addios Charlie out of Holy Cowgirl trained by Steven Todd with Jordan Barrett aboard. Will probably need the run.

– STRIKE SMART is a bay colt (February 16) by Wannabeaplayer out of Profile trained by Phillip Elliott with Ramon Nepare aboard. Note, Strike Smart races with first-time Lasix. Won on debut and was then rested for 45 days. Enters this contest refreshed and will earn.

– ACKNOWLEDGEME is a bay filly (March 26) by Key To Power out of Gentle Officer. Note, Acknowledgeme races with the visor on. Cannot be given even a reasonable chance of winning.
