Eroy comes good in Caymanas Saturday 7th

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Making full use of the handicaps when compared with Further and Beyond, Eroy trained by Richard Azan under a calculated ride from apprentice Oshane Nugent turned the tables on his arch rival with victory in the Caymanas Saturday seventh.

The Caymanas Saturday seventh was for three-year-olds and upwards horses in the Open Allowance bracket travelling seven and a half furlongs.

Uncharacteristically, Eroy did not go with the leaders Eagle One (Dick Cardenas) and Roy Rogers (Nicholas Hibbert). Nugent without any fuss waited while tracking Eroy from the outside to the inside rails, making steady progress from the five furlong point in the race.

In the lane for the final two furlongs, Eroy kept on the inside as Further and Beyond (Linton Steadman) made his move also on the inside.

Nugent efficiently blocked the path of Further and Beyond forcing Steadman to take his mount on the outside and when all of that was completed Eroy made it safely to the winning post by 1 ¼ lengths.

Further and Beyond finished second and Roy Rogers third.

  1. This was a masterful ride by Oshane Nugent; yes the handicaps favored Eroy but the execution by the rider was brilliant
