KINGSTON, Jamaica - The well-bred three-year-old chestnut colt, Sensational Soul, sired by Soul Warrior and out of Red Gold, marked his first victory after three starts.

Trained by Gary Subratie and ridden by Raddesh Roman, Sensational Soul triumphed in a maiden three-year-old race over 6 ½ furlongs on Sunday, January 26, 2025.

Throughout the race, Sensational Soul dictated the pace and pulled ahead rounding the bend to win by an impressive 5 ½ lengths with a final time of 1:22.4 (24.2 x 49.0 x 1:15.4).

It was evident that a change in equipment, with blinkers and a figure eight removed, significantly contributed to Sensational Soul's success.

"He's getting there. He's still green, still learning, and has a way to go,” Subratie remarked.

He further commented, “Removing the blinkers and figure-8 made a big difference today. I didn't stress him too much in his preparation for this race because I was disappointed with his last outing. Today, he showed his ability by beating some really nice horses.”

With champion jockey Raddesh Roman in the saddle, Sensational Soul took an early lead and maintained the pace, guiding competitors Runaway Star (Robert Halledeen), Prince Roy (Phillip Parchment), and Nebuchadnezzar (Shane Ellis) down the backstretch.

As the field approached the half-mile (800m) turn, Runaway Star attempted to challenge for the lead, but Sensational Soul quickly eliminated that threat as they neared the final stretch.

Turning for home, Sensational Soul unleashed a powerful surge, propelling him to a commanding victory. Prince Roy secured second place, while Choo Blue (Samantha Fletcher) finished third.
