KINGSTON, Jamaica - Modern Miracle, running with the blinkers off and the tongue-tie on, made easy work of rivals in a three-year-old and upwards Optional Claiming ($550,000-$450,000) that also included native-bred five-year-olds and upwards (non-winners of four) going 7 ½ furlongs on Saturday, August 5, 2023.

This was the first occasion, Modern Miracle was racing in the claiming ranks.

With Youville Pinnock riding for trainer Anthony Nunes, Modern Miracle settled in third place behind Thegoodlife (Jordan Barrett) and Sure Curlin (Ramon Nepare) down the backstretch. Modern Miracle continued to track the leaders from close range until going into the half-mile when he took over the lead from Thegoodlife.

Approaching the distance, Modern Miracle opened up on rivals and looked strong on the front end entering the lane. The three-year-old chestnut colt wasted no time in deep stretch and powered his way to an easy 3¼-length win.

Silent Cat (Tevin Foster) was second and Fault Line (Reyan Lewis) came home in third place. The final time for the race was 1:38.0 (24.2 x 48.2 x 1:14.2).

It was win number two for the three-year-old Modern Miracle, and number 11 from 109 rides for Pinnock.
