KINGSTON, Jamaica – Following his victory in the 7 1/2 furlong THE KINGSTON on Sunday last (May 8) in stakes record time, the oddsmakers at QUICKGALLOP.COM have placed Blue Vinyl and fourth-place finisher Emperorofthecats as joint 3-1 favourites for the 2000 Guineas.
The 2000 Guineas run over a mile is scheduled for June 5 and is bracketed for three-year-old colts and geldings.
In making Emperorofthecats and Blue Vinyl joint-favorites, the oddsmakers took into consideration that the improvement made by Blue Vinyl was sufficient to lower his Guineas odds significantly. With only two races under his girth going into THE KINGSTON, this half-brother to Toona Ciliata, although carrying only 52.0 kgs, showed vast improvement, and at the right time, to have a say in the upcoming Guineas.
Coming into the reckoning is 12-1 maiden winner on Sunday, May 8, at 8 ½ furlongs, Slam. Slam is given early odds of 15-1 in the Guineas.
