KINGSTON, Jamaica – Ghe Eight Thirty Sprint, a race for three-year-old fillies over five furlongs straight, signals the start of the Road to the 2023 Triple Crown.
Twelve fillies are entered in what is the ninth race on Saturday, February 4, 2023.
The Quick Galloper’s analysis is given below.
– LAMBO GIRL is a chestnut filly (April 12) by Admiral Alex out of Absolute Justice trained by Wilfred Chin with Sadiki Blake aboard. Coming to come but not quite ready as yet. Can hit the board but the one draw is a hindrance. Note, Lambo Girl races with the tongue tie on.
– POWEROFHERHIGNESS is a bay filly (May 28) by Key To Power out of Herroyalhighness trained by Dennis Pryce with Javaniel Patterson aboard. Racing for the first time, Powerofherhighness is said to be progressing well at exercise. She is expected to do well.
– BELLA BELLA is an imported in utero bay filly (March 23) by Bal A Bal out of Bee R Bee trained by Dale Murphy with Chris Mamdeen aboard. Did well on debut (January 15) when finishing second behind Bazinga. Then Bella Bella was running on over six furlongs, making five furlongs straight the right journey to get off the mark.
– GAHLY GALY LINKS is a chestnut filly (March 5) by Hedge Fund out of Danzig La Rae trained by Jason DaCosta with Abigail Able aboard. Will gain experience from this her first race.
– DIGITAL LIGHT is a bay filly (January 14) by Wannabeaplayer out of Morning Grace trained by Gary Griffiths with Romario Spencer aboard. Digital Light has experience on her side with four runs under her hoofs. May end up in the top four. Note, Digital Light races with the tongue tie on.
– SHE’S A MIRAGE is a bay filly (May 29) by Casual Trick out of Full Moon’s Enough trained by Jason DaCosta with Jerome Innis aboard. Disappointed when heavily backed on January 14. Will have to double her efforts to win this one. Note. She’s A Mirage races with the figure 8 on.
– WOW HOW is a bay filly (February 3) by Perfect Curlin out of Sarah Barracuda trained by Michael Marlowe with Ramon Nepare aboard. A well-bred first-time starter who is a half sister to former top two-year-old Wow Wow. This filly has caught the eye in the mornings with some noticeable spins. Wow How is being highly touted with nothing but a good and fighting effort expected from her.
– SUGAR SUGAR is a chestnut filly (March 22) by Berlino Di Tiger out of Misty trained by Michael Marlowe with Ramon Nepare aboard. Facing the starter for the first occasion, Sugar Sugar is said to be advancing well, with her connections expecting a good effort.
– JUST HAVE FUN is a grey filly (May 10) by Midnight Hawk out of Iamallaboutthebest trained by Gary Subratie with Conrod Ellis aboard. Not ready as yet.
– KISSMET is a bay filly (March 30) by Adios Charlie out of Holy Cowgirl trained by Steven Todd with Anthony Thomas aboard. Kissmet is returning from a long break of 111 days. On her first run, Kissmet caught attention when finishing third behind Mamma Mia and Mojito. In preparation for this fillies-only contest, Kissmet has been moving well at exercise and now racing against her own sex and has every chance of winning.
– PRINCESS IFIYAH is a bay filly (April 24) by Buzz Nightmare out of Forced On Me trained by Errol Burke with Linton Steadman aboard. Said to be of significant worth and is expected to give a good effort on debut.
– ANSWER MY PRAYERS is a bay filly (May 24) by Casual Trick out of Great Faith trained by Gary Subratie with Dane Dawkins. Still finding her way. Note, Answer My Prayers races with the tongue tie and figure 8 on.
