KINGSTON, Jamaica - The three-year-old and upwards non-restricted Overnight Allowance call for the Arthur Jones Memorial Cup is the main attraction on tomorrow’s (August 20, 2022) 10-race card at Caymanas Park. The six-furlong (1,200m) contest will see 12 runners battling for supremacy with several in with a winning chance.
Below is the analysis of each runner.
- RACE CAR (USA): (5 gr/rn h by Race Day – MC Duffie) - Won the second time of asking since returning from injury. Race Car disappointed in his next three runs with an improved effort on the cards. Despite the number-one draw, the presence of Shane Ellis in the saddle, reuniting with trainer Spencer Chung is an indication that Race Car is coming with a good effort.
- MARQUESAS: (7 b h by Coded Warning – Islamorada) – Returns from a long break of 210 days. Marquesas is going to need the run.
- EMPEROROFTHECATS: (3 b g by Emperor Hall - Laws of the Cat) –  This gelding has done himself proud to reach this level after a struggling Classic campaign. Emperorofthecats is developing rapidly with sprinting his forte, making six furlongs a perfect journey for him. Tomorrow, Emperorofthecats races outside of the three-year-old grouping and may need time to settle in Overnight. Notwithstanding his class can come to the fore.
- EL PROFESOR: (7 b g by Casual Trick – The Principal) – El Profesor has been very disappointing in his recent races. After finishing second behind Curlin’s Affair two starts before, El Profesor is poised for another showing of worth.
- LORD OF AJAHLON: (5 gr c by Storm Craft – Crucial Cat) – Out of his depth.
- SIR JOHN: (4 b g by Natural Selection – Luscious) – Difficult to see Sir John winning this one.
- DEJAE’S BOY: (5 dkb g by Storm Craft – Dream Big) – Has no form to recommend.
- EAGLE ONE (USA): (5 b g by Astrology – Frisky Cheerleader) – Capable runner who faces his easiest task for a while dropping down in grade. Eagle One can either come from off the pace or set the fractions, but whatever he chooses, he is going to be hard to beat.
- BATON ROUGE: (4 b g by Natural Selection – Little Wasp) – Comes into this race on the strength of two consecutive wins both in claiming races. Baton Rouge, will be hard-pressed even for a spot on the board.
- AWESOME TREASURE (USA): (5 b m by Awesome of Course – Bossy Gal) – This foreign-bred mare is slowly finding herself, and has enough quality to challenge for the win. Note, Awesome Treasure races with the visor on.
- ONE DON (USA): (4 ch c by Chitu – Shezacrazygirl) – One Don is going to be left behind.
- GENERATIONAL: (5 ch g by Fearless Vision – Electrifying) – Has been holding his own at this level, as evidenced by his third-place finish behind Curlin’s Affair on July 23. Generational has speed and if used judiciously, he will have a telling impact on the outcome.
