KINGSTON, Jamaica - The eighth race on the nine-race day card of Saturday, October 21, 2023, is a five-furlong straight for Overnight Allowance, with 15 contenders starting.

The Quick Galloper analyzes the 15 listed starters in this call run in honour of trainer Nigel Nunes.

- A GIFT FROM BEN: Performed well to finish second in her first Overnight attempt. Will be prominent again but faces a challenge from the one draw on this five-furlong straight course.

- RACE CAR (USA): Placed fourth, over eight lengths behind I've Got Magic on September 23. Has an outsider's chance for success but has shown fair preparation for this race and could mix things up.

- KWAKU: Can be ruled out.

- MADELYN'S SUNSHINE (USA): Enters the race after a 147-day break. Madelyn's Sunshine drops a class to compete here. Known for her speed but has had issues that limited competitive participation. Requires observation.

- CATABA: Currently outclassed by these rivals.

- DUKE: Finished second by two lengths behind Freedom Street (5 ½ furlongs) after a long break. Fond of the straight and with that run under his belt, it's hard to bet against Duke despite heading the handicaps.

- SUPER DUPER: Moves from claiming to Overnight territory but lacks impact on this race despite an affinity for this galloping course.

- EXCESSIVE FORCE (USA): Mouttet Mile's past winner struggling with form. This race presents an opportunity to regain momentum. Note: Excessive Force will race without blinkers or Lasix and has removed the figure-8.

- LAST LICK: Can be disregarded.

- LUKSOL (USA): Good record over the straight, finishing second four times in six attempts. Consistent and capable of not only running well but also potentially winning.

- ULTIMATE MACHINE: Still finding footing in the Overnight category.

- TRUE BRAVADO (USA): Outperformed by other contenders.

- AMERICAN TAP (CAN): Imported for the Mouttet Mile. American Tap debuts locally in good exercise form, clocking 1:00.1 on a five-furlong straight (first four furlongs in 46.4) on October 14. Prepared and could win right away.

- RING CHARMER: Lacks a reasonable winning chance.

- PRESS CONFERENCE: Struggles against this level of competition.
