Double for Shane ‘Canterman’ Ellis – brings home 4-5 Dezzy The Genius

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Big race jockey Shane Ellis known to racegoers as the “Canterman” earned a double on today’s (October 12) card when he had nothing really to do as guided the Rowan Mathie trained Dezzy The Genius to victory in the seventh.

Running over nine furlongs and 25 yards, among $450,000 - $400, 000 Optional claimers, Dezzy The Genius raced behind the leader Queen of the Harbour (Roger Hewitt) before taking over leaving the half-mile marker.

In the straight Mirabilis (Reyan Lewis) looked threatening but it was not to be as Dezzy The Genius pushed on to win.

Mirabilis was second with Blood Song (Romario Spencer) third.

Ellis’ first winner on the day was Prince Dominick.
