Dorthebutcher in the nick of time | Caymanas Sunday 8th

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Showing visible improvement in the saddle apprentice Matthew Bennett led, backed out and then produced a brutal final surge to land the Caymanas Sunday eighth atop the Patrick Fong trained 6-1 chance Dorthebutcher.

Racing in a four-year-old and upwards (non-winners of two) call going six furlongs, Bennett went to the lead but that position was tenuous as Daytona Belle (Tevin Foster), My Smokey (Andre Powell), and soon after Better Best (Jerome Innis) were all challenging.

With two and a half furlongs to go in the contest, Daytona Belle took over from Better Best, as Dorthebutcher dropped back to third.

At the top of the lane Daytona Belle started to improve her position with Gorgeous Gift (Javaniel Patterson) finding room on the inside rails and started to motor.

In the blink of an eye, Gorgeous Gift assumed command and with the winning post a step or two away, out of the chasing pack came Dorthebutcher and Bennett. Gorgeous Gift lost by a head, and in turn was a neck in front of Better Best.

This was the second win on the day for Bennett.
