KINGSTON, Jamaica – He has been waiting a while to notch his 700th winner and when it came, jockey Dick Cardenas had to pull out all the stops to bring home Patriarch in the Caymanas ninth.

Cardenas riding for trainer Fitzgerald Richards achieved his milestone aboard Patriarch at the Open Allowance level going 5 ½ furlongs.

As expected, Patriarch went straight to the lead from gate 1 and was never challenged until the final furlong when his stable companion God of Love (Dane Nelson) rushed at him.

Cardenas had to deep holding on to win by a short head. Harry’s Train was third.
