KINGSTON, Jamaica - While Gary Subratie’s three horses, Sentient, Saratoga Sight and Uncle Vinnie are working encouragingly in preparation for the Diamond Mile on Saturday (November 9), the conditioner knows it is going to be a stern test for his inmates.
Subratie, who is having a brilliant year thus far, believes She’s A Maneater and Stranger Danger are the chief stumbling blocks for one of his starters to win the Diamond Mile.
Nonetheless, he is looking forward to a lovely day of competitive racing in the richest purse offer in local racing at Caymanas Park, touching in the region of $14,000,000.
“This year will be a lovely race day with several improving horses taking part that should make the day competitive, but in the Diamond Mile with this year’s calibre of horses, it is not over until the race is finally run.
“There are two really good horses in the race in Stranger Danger and She’s A Maneater, but there are other horses that are improving and showing the willingness to be competitive to the end.
“Winning the Diamond Mile 2019 event will not be as easy as some may think.
“So, let us sit back and see how the Diamond Mile turns out because it is a nice and competitive race developing that will encourage owners, trainers, and spectators to look forward to a great spectacle with improved performances from a number of the runners.
“I can report that all my three horses are working decently and I am pleased with how they are preparing up to now, so, let us leave it until the fat lady sings and see what happens,” Subratie said.
