KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jockey Daniel Thompson got the opportunity to ride the Michael Marlowe trained Congrats Suckie after nominated rider Ramon Nepare went down for the day.

And, the young man, made full use of the opportunity on the 25-1 chance to win the Caymanas Saturday (July 24, 2021) first which was a three-year-old and upwards Optional Claiming ($250,000 - $200,000) contest run over seven furlongs.

Thompson who was riding his first winner of the season positioned Congrats Suckie in mid-pack as Herecomestheboss (Nicholas Hibbert) set the early fractions.

It was Herecomestheboss who took the filed of 10 runners in the lane for the final two furlongs but by this time Thompson was already challenging on the outside of the leader with Ridewiththemob (Romario Spencer) trying to split horses.

It was a close affair for the last furlong and a half, but  Thompson dug deep to bring home Congrats Suckie by three-parts of a length.

The order as the horses went by the post was first Congrats Suckie, second Ridewiththemob, third the 3-5 favourite Bay Commander and fourth Herecomestheboss but after a stewards’ inquiry Ridewiththemob was removed from second and placed fourth. The final placings were therefore first Congrats Suckie, second Bay Commander and third Herecomestheboss.
