KINGSTON, Jamaica – The intention of former three-time champion jockey Dane Nelson is clear. After two races on the Saturday card, Nelson has already ridden a double.

The “Warrior Chief” as Nelson is popularly known in racing circles, had to work hard in order to get home on the American bred Polly’s Gal for trainer Wayne DaCosta in a two-year-old maiden special weight undertaking at five furlongs round.

The well-bred local filly, She’s A Wonder (Bern Identity – Jamaican Dream) with Dane Dawkins in the saddle set off in front tracked closely by Polly’s Gal.

The two entered the final two furlongs - heads-apart, and with neither giving way, Polly’s Gal was only able to get in front with about half-a-furlong left in the contest to win by 1 ¼ lengths in a time of 59.2.

She’s A Wonder was second and Billy Whizz third.

Nelson has now reduced the lead held by Anthony Thomas in the jockey’s race to 11.
