Jockey Dane Nelson, affectionately known as the "Warrior Chief," has his eyes firmly on the prize for the upcoming US$250,000 Mouttet Mile at Caymanas Park.
A force in horse racing with four local jockey titles to his name, Nelson is driven to make his mark in the prestigious race scheduled for December 7.
Eager to return to the track he considers home, Nelson said: "This year is not missing me. I am coming to Caymanas Park to ride. The Mouttet Mile—this one is not missing me.
" With his last appearance at Caymanas Park in early 2022, Nelson is focused on the Mouttet Mile, which has captured the attention of the international racing community.
Nelson's confidence is fortified by his extensive experience since 2002, which dispels any notion of nerves.
"I am just happy and grateful for everything at the moment," Nelson reflects on his double championship win. With career wins totaling 1,614, Nelson's dedication is clear, and he is intent on clinching a victory at the Mouttet Mile, adding, "Hopefully, I can get a ride in the race and be able to get the job done."
