KINGSTON, Jamaica – The seventh event of nine on the race programme of Saturday, February 10, 2024, is an Overnight Allowance call at a mile, in which the eight entries will be competing for Lindy Delapenha Memorial Trophy.

The Quick Galloper’s analysis of the eight starters is given below in draw order.

– I REALISE: This bay gelding returned to competitive racing on January 27, after a long absence. There is no doubt that I Realise has quality but injuries have marred his career. Cannot be given a winning nod.

– FURTHER AND BEYOND: Last raced in December 2023, when finishing third, 9 ½ lengths behind Sistren Treasure and Sonny T And Chippy. That effort is enough to indicate that once Further And Beyond is fit and proper, he has enough class to be among those deciding this one. Note, Further And Beyond races with the visor off.

– REGAL AND ROYAL: Cannot deal with these at this time.

– BABYLIKE: This mare is quickly coming to grips with this grouping. Babylike came close on January 21, when finishing third, three lengths behind Rhythm Buzz and Sonny T And Chippy. Has to be given a more than favourable chance of success in this one. Note, Babylike races with the blinkers off.

– SUNSET SILHOUTTE: A major disappointment to date, Sunset Silhoutte is finding it difficult coming to grips with Overnight Allowance. Expect nothing more encouraging on Saturday.

– D HEAD CORNERSTONE: Has been a model of consistency, even while racing against some of the best horses around at this time. The journey of a mile suits D Head Cornerstone, and with Dane Dawkins returning to the saddle, has ever chance of winning this trophy race.

– DIVINE FORCE: Makes the step up to Overnight Allowance after a convincing win in non-winners of four. Might have to wait before a winning effort can be had against these. Good for the exacta, and trifecta wagers.

– POSITIVE ID: Based on recent performances cannot be seriously considered.
