KINGSTON, Jamaica - After racing 14 times last year with only one win to show for his efforts, a new and rejuvenated Crimson emerged in the Caymanas New Year’s Day eighth.
Racing well off the pace, jockey Christopher Mamdeen decided to take the inside rails in the straight and Crimson trained by Gary Subratie responded by quickening impressively to beat a wayward Coco Chanel (Dane Dawkins) and Sebastian (Reyan Lewis.
This was the second winner on the day for the outgoing champion jockey Mamdeen who first on Jolly’s Dream came via the stewards’ room. It was also the second win for Subratie.
The winning time was 1:55.2.
