‘Country’ Francis takes Caymanas Wednesday first with Royal Vibes

KINGSTON, Jamaica – After four non-starters (two at the gates) were announced in the Caymanas Wednesday first taking the field from 13 to 9 starters, Royal Vibes with Paul ‘Country’ Francis aboard ran out an easy winner of the seven-furlong contest.

The Caymanas Wednesday first was for three-year-olds and upwards in the claiming bracket of $550,000 - $500,000.

Blind Faith (Oshane Nugent) who set off in front with tracked by Key Witness (Anthony Thomas), with Tradition (Robert Halledeen) lurking. Royal Vibes at this stage was way behind the leading bunch.

Entering the straight there were four horses locked together as Francis urged Royal Vibes to the inside rails.

With a furlong to go Royal Vibes got into top gear and simply sailed by to win by 6 ½ lengths.

Royal Vibes an 11-year-old bay gelding was winning for the 13th time from 128 starts.

Second was 10-1 chance Stallwalkin’girl (Samantha Fletcher) with Tradition third.
