KINGSTON, Jamaica – Trainer Ian Parsard has confirmed with QUICKGALLOP.COM that his charge, multiple stakes winner Father Patrick has been officially retired from competitive racing. Father Patrick last raced on Saturday last (May 14) in the six-furlong Lady Geeta Trophy.
“The decision was taken to retire Father Patrick and he will now be placed on the farm, Paradise at Spring Village for the rest of his days.
“Father Patrick during his limited career provided us with such joy, and this was after he received orthoscopic surgery when he was a three-year-old to deal with some niggling issues with his knee. After the surgery and the requisite rest period, Father Patrick produced for us at the stables on many different occasions, and for that we will always be grateful to him. It is time for him to rest and roam about in the pastures, and simply enjoy himself,” Parsard shared with QUICKGALLOP.COM.
Now a six-year-old (bay gelding), Father Patrick by Nuclear Wayne out of Late Appeal has raced 31 times. He won 11 races from those 31 starts, with six second place finishes and four third place positions. His career earnings stand at just a pip under $10 million.
Father Patrick last visited the winners’ enclosure on December 27, 2021, when he won the Chris Armond Sprint Trophy.

  1. This is indeed a heartwarming decision by the connections of Father Patric; this horse brought them great joy and it is only fitting that they let hi enjoy the remainder of his days. I wish that others in this industry would follow this great example set by the connections of this gelding. I have seen it far too often where connections keep racing these lovely animals way past their prime for selfish and monetary reasons. Well done trainer Ian Parsard!!!
