KINGSTON, Jamaica – Ten horses face off in race nine on Sunday, July 9. 2023.

The event is a three-year-old non-winners of two for locally bred horses and also for maiden foreigners. The distance is 5 ½ furlongs.

The Quick Galloper’s take on the ten listed starters is provided below for readers.

1 – EPIC is a bay filly (March 21) by Casual Trick out of Global, trained by Edward Stanberry with Roger Hewitt aboard. Note, Epic races with the visor off. Has not been able to catch the pace of non-winners of two as yet.

2 - PIGGLIE WIGGLIE is a bay filly (April 2) by Conquest Cherimash out of Save More, trained by Patrick Fong with Jerome Innis in the saddle. Note, Pigglie Wigglie races with the blinkers on. Was the leader for a long way in her last race (July 1), then went miles wide, therefore dissipating any chance of winning. Now, the blinkers have been put on, plus the journey has been reduced by two furlongs, giving Pigglie Wigglie an outsider’s chance of winning.

3 – UNCAPTURED EMPRESS is a chestnut filly (USA April 16) by Uncaptured out of Holyano, trained by Peter McMaster with Omar Walker aboard. Note, Uncaptured Empress races with the blinkers on. Getting closer and closer to finding the winning post in front. This foreigner will enjoy 5 ½ furlongs, making her the main candidate to win this one.

4 – MRS LYNDHURST is a chestnut filly (March 16) by Soul Warrior out of Lady Tarkari, trained by Steven Todd with Anthony Thomas in the saddle. Mrs Lyndhurst won her first race the second time out. Now, she enters non-winners of two and will need time to acclimatize.

5 – JOY IS GOLDEN is a bay filly (USA April 30) by Golden Cents out of Sylvan Light, trained by Patrick Lynch with Matthew Bennett aboard. Note, Joy Is Golden races with the tongue tie on. In her three races on local soil, this American-bred filly is yet to show anything worthy of being considered to win this one.

6 – SHE’S A MIRAGE is a bay filly (March 29) by Casual Trick out of Full Moon’s Enough, trained by Jason DaCosta with Oshane Nugent in the saddle. Simply cannot handle these.

7 – THE LOVE OF GOD is a chestnut filly (February 22) by Lion Tamer out of The Principal, trained by Lawrence Freemantle with Javaniel Patterson aboard. Won her first race just eight days ago, and now taking on non-two in quick time will prove difficult.

8 – ACKNOWLEDGEME is a bay filly (March 28) by Key To Power out of Gentle Officer, trained by Michael Thomas with Bebeto Harvey in the saddle. Ran a blinder on last (June 24) when losing out by a neck to Essential Quality going 6 ½ furlongs. Going a furlong shorter is going to suit Acknowledgeme to the core. Cannot be taken out of the reckoning.

9 – FLYBLUEJET is a bay filly (USA April 3) by Air Force Blue out of Perfectly Beautiful, trained by Philip Feanny with Tevin Foster aboard.  Note, Flybluejet races with the visor on. Much more was expected when she last raced on June 25 coming down the straight route. Then Flybluejet was beaten by Uncaptured Empress, with a reversal of that placing highly unlikely.

10 – SISTER D is a bay filly (USA May 2) by Brethren out of Invidia, trained by Gary Subratie with Dane Dawkins aboard. Note, Sister D races with blinkers and tongue tie on. Has no form to recommend.
