KINGSTON, Jamaica – Champion jockey Christopher Mamdeen has seemingly returned to his best form.
Mamdeen completed a double on the day when he guided Nuclear Thunder to victory in the seventh race at the Park moments ago.
Trained by veteran Phillip Elliott and running at odds of 5-2, Nuclear Thunder accelerated well in the final part of the race to catch the speedy Polly B (Youville Pinnock) before going on to win by 2 ½ lengths.
Nuclear Thunder won an Optional Claiming event ($1,000,000 - $850,000) competed over five furlongs straight.
Polly B finished second with five straight specialist K D Flyer (Tevin Foster) taking place.
The winning time was a respectable 59.2.
