KINGSTON, Jamaica - On Sunday, August 20, 2023, Glittering Star made her second career start and secured victory in a 6-furlong Maiden Condition event for native-bred three-year-old fillies, while donning blinkers.
Jockey Paul Francis rode Glittering Star, trained by Lorne Kirlew, who jumped into the lead right from the start. They maintained their lead through the half-mile turn, leaving May Sellington (Matthew Bennett), She's Alone (Raddesh Roman), and Lady Ramdularie (Jerome Innis) behind.
Glittering Star continued to dominate the race with an uninterrupted pace throughout the lane and cruised to an effortless win with a 4.25 length margin at the finish line. May Sellington came in second place, while Veliki Vicki (Dane Dawkins) and Princess Talise (Javaniel Patterson) tied for third.
The final time recorded was 1:16.1, following splits of 23.0 and 48.0.
This victory marked Kirlew's first success of 2023 out of seven starts and Francis's 19th win this year.
