KINGSTON, Jamaica – Champion jockey Anthony Thomas broke a lean winning spell with a relatively easy win on Luana in the sixth race on today’s (Saturday, November 9) Diamond Mile Race Day.

Thomas, who has been struggling of late to gain winning rides, kept the Michael Francis trained Luana behind tear-away leader Paintthistownred (Raddesh Roman 49-1) in a $250,000 - $200,000 claiming event run over 6 ½ furlongs.

Paintthistownred came into the stretch drive about four lengths in front but Thomas kept fighting with Luana before striking the lead with about half-a-furlong left in the race to win by 2 ¼.

A tired Paintthistownred was second with Musketoon (Daniel Satchell – 3-1) third.

This was trainer Francis’ fourth winner for the year.
