Matthew Bennett, last year's champion apprentice jockey, is attributing his rise to the top to unwavering dedication to the sport.
Bennett dominated the apprentice ranks with 22 wins from 208 rides, even securing a coveted 10th place finish in the overall jockey standings.
"Reaching this stage has been a journey of faith and perseverance," Bennett stated.
"It's relentless hard work and dedication that paves the way. Maintaining weight is crucial, as every pound less gives you an edge. Trainers invest in potential, and I strive to deliver."
Bennett's passion for racing was ignited by watching televised events.
"I knew this was the world I wanted to be part of," he recalled. "A friend introduced me to the racetrack, and I never looked back. Today, I'm living the dream as a jockey."
Having conquered the apprentice title, Bennett's sights are now set on the ultimate prize: becoming a champion jockey.
