KINGSTON, Jamaica - Despite the presence of the Stewards Cup where the two-year-olds take centre stage, the Open Allowance event for three-year-olds and upwards should draw some attention as six lively sprinters compete over 5 ½ furlongs (1,100m).

Chace The Great along with Exhilarate, Lady Blue and Mr Universe make the race worth watching as fireworks are expected to set blazing from the start to the finish of the race.

Below is an analysis of the race.

  1. MY SISTER: (4-y-o rn f Taqaurub - Lady MacBeth) - was a winner over Mr Universe in the recent Vassell “Jolly Man” Najair Memorial Trophy feature by 1 ¾ lengths over 6 furlongs. My Sister won in a time 1:11.4 and based on that run she could be a factor here.
  1. ZEPHYR: (6-y-o ch. m – Nasheet – Rushing Force) – Continues to make her presence felt at in her races at the Open Allowance level and should continue doing so here.
  1. CHACE THE GREAT: (6-y-o ch.g – Greatness – Our Miss Ruth) – Surprisingly, this former sprint champion is without a win this season so far from six starts. Chace The Great was expected to a winner in previous races but failed on each occasion after being prominent throughout. He was very disappointing in the recent Caribbean Sprint Championship finishing down the track as one of the top runners in the field. Let’s give Great The Great yet another chance.
  1. EXHILARATE: (4-y-o ch. f – Blue Pepsi Lodge – Purejoy) – Very consistent sort who continues to be effective in her races at various distances. However, Exhilarate, after prompting the pace in the recent Caribbean Sprint Championship gave way in deep stretch and finished down the track. She gets the ideal trip on this occasion and with Dane Nelson in the saddle, Exhilarate should run a better race.
  2. LADY BLUE: (3-y-o ch f -Blue Pepsi Lodge – The Vibes Lady) – Did well to reach this level with back-to-back wins at the Overnight Allowance level. Lady Blue has the potential and is expected to run a good race.
  1. MR UNIVERSE: (5-y-o ch horse Region of Merit – Raging Fury) – In only his second start of the year, Mr Universe finished second in the recent Caribbean Sprint Championship over 6 furlongs. Mr Universe carried the field into the straight before he was run down by Another Bullet inside the final furlong. Now Mr Universe should be cherry ripe and could easily put these away these.
