Cataba In One Shake

KINGSTON, Jamaica - Cataba, from the barn of Patrick Lynch, made all the running to win a native-bred five year old and upwards (non-winners of four) and imported five year olds and upwards (non-winners of three) travelling over 5 ½ furlongs (1,100m).
With Javaniel Patterson in the saddle, Cataba shot to an early lead ahead of stablemate Joyful (Paul Francis) and Snowflakes (Dane Dawkins) going into the turn for home bend. Still under a tight hold, Cataba entered the lane looking good on the headline, and with no one coming to the core to challenge, the five-year-old chestnut mare kept up her gallop well to win by a length and a half.
Snowflakes finished in second place, a length ahead of Joyful in third. The final time was recorded at 1:08.0 (23.2 x 46.4).
