KINGSTON, Jamaica – Tracking from mid-track to the outside rails, 18-1 choice in the betting Cataba (Chris Mamdeen), trained by Patrick Lynch obliged to close the Reggae 6 exotic wager.
Thirteen punters were able to spot the six winners in the Reggae 6 with each receiving a payout of $203,875.
Mamdeen had Cataba in mid-track when the starting barriers were opened by the starter as Let’s Get It On (Omar Walker) went to the front of the 10 runners in the five furlongs straight event.
Cataba was then taken to the preferred outside rails, and it was then that Cataba found her groove, and started to challenge the leader, while 1-5 favourite Alexa’s Dream (Dick Cardenas), who made a wobbly start coming into the reckoning.
But by then Cataba was flying; going on to win by 1 ½ lengths. Let’s Get It On was second and Alexa’s Dream third.
Cataba’s victory came in a three-year-old and upwards (non-winners of two – fillies only) call.
