KINGSTON, Jamaica – Cartel made it five wins in a row in the Caymanas Saturday first this time for trainer Johnny Wilmot.

Ridden by now accustomed partner Anthony Thomas, Cartel’s victory was accomplished in a $550,00 - $500,000 claiming event for three-year-olds and upwards horses run over 5 ½ furlongs.

Nine horses faced the starter, and when the gates were opened is was 37-1 chance Casual Affair (Oshane Nugent) who went for the early lead with Thomas moving Cartel smoothly around horses coming from the outside.

Casual Affair maintained his lead but Cartel had now pounced and was close by as they entered the straight.

In the stretch drive it was all Cartel and Thomas winning comfortably by 3 ½ lengths.

Casual Affair stayed on for second with Lala Diva third.
