BRINKS MAKES HIS SEASONAL DEBUT IN NON-WINNERS OF FOUR

Brinks

Faces strong opposition from Runaway Algo, Deezi

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Top two-year-old male of 2021, Brinks races for the first time in 2022, in a three and four-year-old (non-winners of four) for local bred horses and for non-winners of three for the imported horses. The distance of this race is 6 ½ furlongs. This is the beginning of Brinks’ path to the Classics.
There are only six horses entered, but the quality of those six is sure to produce a compelling contest.
THE QUICK GALLOPER assesses these six runners to provide a guide for readers.

1 - BRINKS: three-year-old bay colt by Bern Identity out of Indian Bluff: Brinks was the only colt or gelding from the 2021 cohort to win two races. He was the choice of many in the Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes on Boxing Day 2021, but broke slowly, eventually ending in third place 3 ¾ lengths behind winner Golden Wattle and Perfect Brew. Brinks makes his return after a break of 75 days, and does so fit and proper to take on all challengers. It has to be noted that this race is for non-winners of four and Brinks is a non-winner of three. Brinks races on Saturday (March 12) with the figure 8 on. *** 8/5
2 - DEEZI: three-year-old bay colt by Northern Giant out of Buyabook: Deezi has raced twice against Brinks and has been been beaten twice. He was the surprise in the Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes (one mile) when he vied for the lead and was still galloping resolutely in the lane to finish fourth just a quarter of a length behind Brinks in third place. Deezi made his 2022 entrance on February 13 (six furlongs), doing so with a performance of note. The distance of this race is perfect for Deezi, making him one of the deciding factors. Like Brinks, Dezzi is a non-winner of three races racing in a non-four event. *** 2-1
3 - POWER OF FAITH: three-year-old chestnut gelding by Key To Power out of Yield To Faith: Power of Faith is a filler for stablemate Brinks, plus it is highly unlikely that as a non-winner of two races, he can’t defeat these at non-winners of three and four. *** 16-1
4 - PRESS CONFERENCE: four-year-old chestnut colt by Twilight Time out of Lady Shankari. Press Conference is the only one in this contest with three wins in his career. He achieved his third victory on February 26, over the same distance. On Saturday, this four-year-old faces the might of the three-year-olds and his chance of winning cannot be swept under the carpet. *** 10-1
5 - RUNAWAY ALGO: three-year-old chestnut colt bred in the USA by Algorithms out of Misunify, who has raced three times with two wins to his credit. Runaway Algo’s last win on February 19, was at six furlongs, and it was visible that he was shortening as True Al Sky made raid ground. Now Runaway Algo is going half-a-furlong longer, making it that more difficult for this American bred. *** 5-2
6 – IT’S A BOY: four-year-old bay colt by Bern Identity out of Wonder Girl. Does not belong here, and like Power of Faith is in this race as a filler for his stablemate, Deezi. *** 30-1
