KINGSTON, Jamaica - The eighth race on Sunday, July 14, 2024, is a quick five-furlong sprint at the Overnight Allowance level.
Eight horses are entered to contest this sprint, with The Quick Galloper’s assessment of the possible outcome provided below in post-position order.
1 - REJECTED RAJA has gone completely off the radar in his last three outings. Rejected Raja was withdrawn from competing on June 22, with the official reason being sickness. Plus, the choice of rider does not inspire confidence.
2 - FREEDOM STREET has been inconsistent in his recent race day efforts. Yet, it can’t be denied that Freedom Street has the speed to handle these based on past performances. He was hampered in his last run (June 23) and could not recover. Deserves another look in.
3 - BOOTYLICIOUS is speed personified. This filly has been competing in the higher grades against many of the leading horses presently in training. The distance is perfect for this speedball, who has in the past displayed the ability to fight. Bootylicious has to be caught.
4 - RACE CAR returns to Overnight after being claimed. At this stage of his career, Race Car cannot handle these rivals. Race Car races with the figure 8 on.
5 - LABAN is consistent with his best option being a place on the board.
6 - CHOCOMO is getting accustomed to life in Overnight. Finished third in his first Overnight attempt (5 ½ furlongs), and with the distance reduced to five furlongs, it is not to his liking. Will hit the board.
7 - MONEY MARKET was impressive winning at non-four (June 23) and is entering Overnight for the first time. He has speed and may pose a threat in the early part of this race but will need time for a winning effort in Overnight.
8 - LIFE IS LIFE is going to find it difficult moving from claiming to Overnight.
